Prof. James Unwin

James Unwin caught the interest of adults with his writings on black holes in the solar system and the imagination of small children with his rhymes about cats that transform into stars. He grew up in the North of England, was educated at Manchester and Oxford, and now works as a professor in Chicago with his wife Laura and two fantastic boys. Prof. Unwin is known amongst the physics community for his proposal of a black whole being in our solar system

Prof. Fidel A. Schaposnik

Fidel Arturo Schaposnik es doctor en física por la Universidad Nacional de La Plata, donde trabaja como profesor y como investigador de la Comisión de Investigaciones Científicas de Buenos Aires. Fue becario del CONICET de Argentina, de la Fundación Marie Curie de Francia y de la Fundación Guggenheim de los Estados Unidos. Fue profesor de la Universidad de París VI, en Francia, e investigador invitado en diversos centros y universidades europeos, latinoamericanos y estadounidenses. Dirigió numerosas tesis de doctorado en física de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata, de Buenos Aires y del Instituto Balseiro. Es autor de publicaciones científicas en revistas internacionales en colaboración con más de noventa físicos y matemáticos de todo el mundo. Investiga en el área de la física de partículas y campos, incluidas aplicaciones a la gravitación, la cosmología y la materia condensada.

Laura P. Schaposnik lives in Chicago, USA, with her husband James Unwin and her two sons, Nikolay and Alexander. Laura grew up in La Plata, Argentina, and completed her undergraduate studies in mathematics in her home city. She them moved to England where she was awarded a DPhil at the University of Oxford. After post-doctoral positions at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, and the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, she settled in Chicago where she currently is an Associate Professor in Mathematics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Inspired by the smile of her children when being told magic stories she decided to begin a series of books to teach young children about mathematics, science, and language through the eyes of a little mouse called Ene.
